Both Gleim and Becker have long histories of helping candidates pass their accounting credential exams. Gleim EA Exam Materials Compared to Becker Enrolled Agent Review
The Becker and Gleim EA courses have what is regarded as standard study materials for the Enrolled Agent exam. That is, both courses have textbooks, video lectures, sample EA questions, practice EA exams, and more.
Becker EA vs Gleim Enrolled Agent exam questions (EA test bank)
First of all, Becker comes with about 3,000 practice Enrolled Agent exam MCQs (multiple-choice questions). This means that Becker has one of the biggest EA test banks available.
However, Gleim EA has a few more questions, with a test bank that has more than 3,500 MCQs. Gleim also provides thorough explanations for both the correct and incorrect responses. So, if you spend the time to read every explanation, this approach could help you learn the material more effectively.
Plus, you can purchase the Gleim EA test bank separately. So even if you choose to study with another provider, you can still purchase Gleim’s test bank to take advantage of the high-quality practice EA questions.
Length of access to online EA course materials
When you start to compare the best EA study courses, you’ll find that most of them are online. While some companies only grant access for a limited period of time (like 6 or 12 months), others let you access those materials until you pass the EA exam. So, if your EA course only offers 12 months of access, for instance, you have to pay an extension charge if you want to keep studying after a year.
Online access for the Gleim Premium EA Review System, though, runs until you pass your exam. (The Gleim Traditional EA Review System and the Gleim EA Test Bank do not come with access until you pass, however.)
Similarly, the Becker EA Review Pro course also has unlimited course access, although Becker’s more affordable course (EA Review Essentials) only has access for 12 months. This limited access length is important to consider before you buy Becker. Why? Well, to pass every part of the Enrolled Agent exam, you could ultimately have to study longer than 12 months. Therefore, if you decide to study with Becker, you should consider one of the packages with unlimited access.
Gleim and Becker Enrolled Agent books
Do you like either digital or physical textbooks to study for the EA exam? They both have their place. But for my part, I find it useful to underline key passages while taking notes and studying. This is why I think it’s great that both of the Gleim EA courses (Premium and Traditional) include digital AND hard-copy textbooks.
By contrast, the Becker EA Review Essentials package just has a digital EA book. Though it’s a minor issue, if you prefer hard-copy EA books, you’ll have to print off the EA textbook PDF that you’ll be able to access with your Becker Essentials course. Or, you could pick the Becker EA Review Pro or Premium courses because they both include printed as well as digital textbooks.
EA expert support
The Gleim Premium and Traditional EA courses both include access to a Gleim Personal Counselor. Your counselor will basically assist you in developing and following an EA study schedule. Should your performance lag as you work through your EA course, your counselor will get in touch with you and help you come up with a plan to re-group.

The Gleim EA videos are all from Nate Wadlinger, who is a tax expert. He goes over the key EA exam subjects by working through example EA questions. This way, you can accelerate your mastery of the content by reinforcing what you learn in the textbooks.
Becker, on the other hand, provides EA exam content lectures as well as videos about IRS tax forms. The videos grab your interest and help you interact with and remember the content. And since the EA videos are all online, you won’t have to bother with live EA classes!
Audio lectures to study-on-the-go for the EA exam
Some EA candidates I know would rather learn on-demand by listening to audio lectures. They like the fact that they can listen to EA audio lectures while going about their daily business. If you’re in this boat, you’ll be glad that both the Gleim Premium and Traditional EA courses include audio lectures.
But at least for now, the Becker Enrolled Agent course does not provide audio lectures.
